Job Summary:
TechnoServe’s West Africa Regional Team implements a portfolio of programs in Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin. The team is currently seeking a dedicated program development professional to build upon the existing portfolio and support the development of new business opportunities in the region.
The Senior Regional Business Development Manager will play a key role in helping to expand the organization’s businesses solutions to poverty. The Senior Manager reports to the Regional Director, and supervises one Program Development Manager. S/he will be a dynamic participant in all aspects of program development, gaining exposure to economic development and sustainable business models across the organization’s footprint in the region.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain dynamic strategy and pipeline, working closely with County Directors; support Regional Director on strategic decisions related to Program Development

Lead overall new business strategy in collaboration with country teams, Regional Director and Program Development HQ teams, assessing regional performance against Key Performance Indicators and annual sales targets

Cultivate relationships and build opportunity pipeline; manage donor relationships

Lead and manage large, high value, strategic, complex, competitive bids, ensuring appropriate internal and external resources are engaged and directly carrying out a wide range of bid team roles; recruit and manage short-term technical and writing consultants; develop and maintain bench of effective consultants

Manage, coach, and empower full time and short-term staff supporting program development in region and ensure strong systems are in place

Ensure business development in the region is perpetually learning and evolving

Lead research and analytical efforts to inform evidence-based program design

Convene and participate in meetings with external stakeholders, articulating a clear understanding of TechnoServe’s past and present portfolio in West Africa

Ensure proposal development efforts are adequately resourced and oversee management of external consultants as needed
Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of professional experience with a Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of experience with a Master's Degree

At least 5 years of experience in business development with a proven track record of managing and contributing to winning proposals

Familiarity with project design and implementation in the international development arena and knowledge of the international development donor landscape

Strong written and oral communication skills with an enthusiasm for writing

Experience working with or leading geographically dispersed colleagues and project teams
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience cultivating relationships and liaising directly with donors and partners

Passionate about market-led approaches to helping the poor improve their livelihoods

Experience in agricultural development/agribusiness/economic growth/enterprise development

Proficiency in French preferred
