We assess market opportunities and business models, advise service providers on new digital product strategies, assist donors, NGOs, and financial service providers in leveraging digital solutions to enhance service delivery to customers, and support training and knowledge sharing to reinforce demand and supply-side initiatives. We are looking for a Business Development Associate to join our team. The applicant should bring at least two years of experience in coordinating USAID, UN, and/or World Bank proposals and should be excited about helping build new business development systems and processes. The primary role is to coordinate SIA’s process of planning, preparing, and submitting proposals to clients such as USAID, World Bank, UN Agencies, and various NGOs. The Business Development Coordinator will also draft proposals, develop budgets, and contribute to business strategy, opportunity tracking, and external relationship management. The successful candidate will learn by doing, take the initiative to improve and grow our company, and thrive in a small team. The candidate will have the opportunity to build their expertise in digital financial services, mobile money/digital payments, financial inclusion, agricultural development, humanitarian cash transfers, private sector development, digital development, and ICT4D.
Responsibilities

Lead and manage the process to submit proposals in response to solicitations, including completing proposal-related administrative tasks and collecting necessary documents for deliverables

Create proposal management plans and coordinate proposal development timelines with SIA team members and external partners

Draft innovative and responsive proposals that address donor priorities with input from partners, consultants, and subject matter experts

Work with the technical team to develop the methodology and present it in a graphically compelling way

Take responsibility for developing short- and long-term plans to implement goals and objectives, including timetables, task assignments, and budgets

Provide editorial and quality control review of outgoing proposals

Serve as the final check on compliance with proposal submission requirements

Identify new opportunities; Engage within and across the international development community to build positive relationships and new business leads

Monitor all relevant procurement sites for new opportunities and manage/track the SIA pipeline

Support teaming strategy development and teaming conversations

Propose and implement improvements to business development processes

Identify relevant workshops and conferences; create proposals for speaking engagements and presentations

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree related to English, International Development, or Project Management with 2-3 years of successful grant/contract writing experience
What We Are Looking For

Experience pursuing proposal opportunities from donors in international development, including USAID, The World Bank Group, UN, and foundations

Experience managing business and proposal development responsibilities in a consulting and/or international development context

Experience in proposal management and attention to detail regarding proposal compliance

Demonstrated excellent technical writing abilities

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with direct teammates virtually, in multiple time zones, particularly in a small business/start up environment

Interest in and ability to quickly assess, propose, and implement process improvements to business development operations and practices
