Project Director Ghana

SUMMARY
The Project Director will oversee the implementation and administration of an anticipated Mastercard Foundation project in Ghana under the Young Africa Works Strategy.
The Project Director will provide overall leadership, management, and strategic direction for the project, and is ultimately accountable for the delivery of results. The 5-year project aims to boost the prosperity of young women and men by creating and sustaining employment in rural Ghana within the agriculture sector. The project functions within the agriculture, financial services, and youth workforce development sectors. This position will be based in Accra, Ghana, will report to the Head of AgFinance, and is contingent upon award funding with an anticipated start date of July 2023.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead overall technical and operational leadership and expertise for the project, including management of work plans, high-quality outputs, and dissemination of reports and learnings.

Provide the strategic direction for the project by serving as the primary liaison with the Mastercard Foundation and Opportunity leadership. Interact with various government and senior-level national and country-level government officials.

Serve as the consortium leader and oversee all sub-awardees, ensuring effective communication between key stakeholders and strong coordination toward the delivery of the project’s objectives.

Manage a diverse team to deliver the expected impact within budget and agreed timelines. Mentor and coach staff to support their professional development and application of skills and knowledge.

Support the development of a strong monitoring & evaluation system, project monitoring tools, and an impact measurement strategy to track and document project successes and learnings.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business, international development, economics, agriculture, finance, or other relevant field; advanced graduate degree preferred.

At least 8 years of relevant experience implementing projects in youth workforce development, agriculture, financial and digital inclusion, or women’s empowerment, and/or experience working in or with financial institutions.

At least 3 years of experience in a senior-level management position such as Team Leader, Chief of Party, or other Program Director level role.

Previous experience working in Ghana required. Experience working with Ghanaian financial institutions and/ or high-level government officials preferred.

Excellent communication, technical, and analytical skills, including public speaking, stakeholder management, and donor management.

Demonstrable ability to build and motivate diverse teams around a common vision with proven leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills

Passionate about Opportunity’s mission. Able to promote and communicate the organization’s goals and objectives to external and internal stakeholders.

Written and verbal fluency in English, additional local languages preferred.

Willing to travel internationally 15-25% of the time.
