About the Position

Dexis Professional Services is recruiting for an Inclusive Education Specialist who will be embedded within USAID's Center for Education, Bureau for Development, Democracy and Innovation through the Education Support Initiative 2 (ESI 2) institutional support contract. This position will serve both as a thought leader and an advisor to the Center for Education and Mission staff. The Specialist will promote and program for inclusive education and the incorporation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in education programming. The Specialist will work as part of a team to expand the Center for Education, the Agency and the global education sectors’ approaches to inclusion focusing on ensuring equity.

USAID’s Bureau for Development, Democracy and Innovation integrates technical expertise with values-driven, cross-cutting priorities, and modern approaches to the way USAID performs its work.  It provides client-centered technical services to USAID’s Missions worldwide, supports programming to innovate, learn, and address emerging issues, and provides technical leadership within the Agency and externally to enhance development impact.

 

The Bureau’s Center for Education (DDI/EDU) leverages its expertise, partnerships, and global perspective to guide and influence the education sector, advancing U.S. Government development priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Work with DDI/EDU colleagues and USAID Missions to build capacity related to inclusive education, disability education and UDL.

  • Work with colleagues to develop knowledge products, messages, and materials for field colleagues and the global education sector related to inclusion, disability, UDL, all with an eye towards DEIA for all children and youth in all phases of educational programming.

  • Support Center, mission, and partner staff to incorporate UDL into all USAID education programming.

  • Serve as an activity manager for Center mechanisms.

  • Serve as a thought leader on relevant subject matter, which includes a broad technical understanding of disability and inclusive education and familiarity with UDL.

  • Develop training and capacity building sessions for staff and partners.

  • Develop curriculum using UDL principles.

 
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 or more years of relevant professional experience or Master’s degree and 4 or more years of relevant professional experience.

  • Experience developing and/or implementing UDL programming and curriculum

  • Broad understanding of disability education and the ability to develop knowledge and capacity building products related to disability and inclusion, disability education, UDL, and DEIA.

  • Proven skills in curriculum design, development and facilitation.

  • Demonstrated interest/commitment to global education/development.

  • Experience with basic education/foundational learning, youth, and/or higher education preferred.

  • Teaching or educational program design experience highly desirable, background in special education preferred.

  • Conversant with adult learning principles.

  • Positive attitude, comfort working in a fast-paced environment, and enthusiasm for collaboration.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance required.
