TechnoServe is recruiting a Technical Lead (Cocoa) for an upcoming regional cocoa development opportunity in Latin America. The anticipated project is expected to be four to five years in duration and focus on developing the cocoa sector for smallholder producers and increasing their competitiveness within country, regional and global markets. The Technical Lead will oversee all technical aspects of the program’s development of cocoa production, inputs, aggregation and marketing, leading of team of technical and field-level staff. The position is contingent on project award to TechnoServe.
Qualification Requirements include:
Technical Lead:

Minimum Bachelor’s in relevant technical discipline; Master’s preferred.

Professional fluency in Spanish and at minimum conversational English required;

Possess a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience across cocoa agronomy and R&R, cocoa tree and plantation development and management, inputs and outputs sourcing and market linkages in Latin America;

Ability to lead of team of field staff and travel within the LAC region up to 30% of the time;

Previous professional experience within the private cocoa industry strongly preferred;

Previous professional experience support and/or leading cocoa production and marketing for a donor-funded program strongly preferred;

Demonstrated ability to leverage strong working relationships the local, regional and international cocoa industry among other agricultural commodities;

Proficient in use of computers, including Microsoft Office and email. Knowledge of ARCGIS considered helpful;

Ability to travel among project countries up to 30% of the time.
