Overview

Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches for a broad and lasting impact in six practice areas: youth and workforce development, finance and investment, enterprise development, gender, health, and evaluation and learning. Banyan Global is recruiting an experienced Grants Manager to manage project-based and learning grants portfolios focused on Positive Youth Development for the anticipated USAID-funded Cross-Sectoral Youth Activity. The Activity will create and support an array of interventions, tailored to specific needs of targeted youth, that are youth-owned, youth-led and youth-managed, focused particularly on out of school youth who have had limited opportunities to engage in the formal education sector. The expected results of this program are that youth participants are more productive, engaged, and active members in their communities. The position is based in Tanzania, full-time and contingent on funding.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development, implementation, evaluation, and close-out of grants, including tracking reporting needs, deadlines, and action items.

  • Supervise a Grants Under Contract team and work with Chief of Party and technical leads to ensure grants support the Activity’s goals.

  • Maintain strong program monitoring, data gathering, compiling, and filing systems for the project-based grants activities.

  • Ensure data collection and reporting by grantees is in accordance with grant agreement requirements and the projects’ Performance Monitoring Plans.

  • Oversee the grants making process including past performance review, and pre-award surveys, ensuring due diligence on all successful applicants.

  • Ensure the Grants Manual and procedures are updated regularly and comply with USAID guidelines and regulations, especially in regard to all required documentation, certifications, and forms in grant awards.

  • Monitor grants budget expenditures and assist in allocating funds.

  • Design and deliver capacity building trainings to grantees and share learning across grants.

  • Lead the standardization of internal grant processes and grant team staff in understanding best practices.

Qualifications

  • At least 10-years of experience working on grants for programs of similar magnitude and complexity.

  • Familiarity with US Government (USG) financial reporting, compliance requirements and USG grant and procurement management. Experience with USAID preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, writing, editing, and presentation skills.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web-based research).

  • Experience effectively working in a team setting and delegating tasks to others.

  • Citizen of Tanzania.
