Overview
Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches for a broad and lasting impact in six practice areas: youth and workforce development, finance and investment, enterprise development, gender, health, and evaluation and learning. Banyan Global is recruiting an experienced Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) to provide overall day-to-day management of the anticipated USAID-funded Cross-Sectoral Youth Activity that will create and support an array of interventions, tailored to specific needs of targeted youth, that are youth-owned, youth-led and youth-managed, focused particularly on out of school youth who have had limited opportunities to engage in the formal education sector. The expected results of this program are that youth participants are more productive, engaged, and active members in their communities. The position is full-time and contingent on funding
Responsibilities

Serve on project senior leadership team and support the COP to provide technical direction and oversight in the design, implementation and monitoring of programmatic functions including the development of work plans, budgets, quarterly/annual reports, and ensuring effective implementation of program strategy as articulated in the work plan.

Oversee and participate in the preparation of necessary technical and program-related reports, including presentations, peer-reviewed publications presenting innovation on youth policy and systems, and white papers.

Oversee project budgeting and ensure transparency and quality control of project financial management.

Guide the technical team to develop contextually sound strategies related to emerging trends and initiatives for achieving program goals and activities at the national, regional, and local levels.

Supervise staff to carry out activities in the technical portfolio; in doing so, ensure activities are on track, and are delivered on schedule and on budget.

Ensure adherence to US Government, USAID, project, corporate, and Tanzania policies, regulations, and laws governing all technical work including those related to procurement and labour and employment.

Serve as liaison and secondary point of contact with USAID/Tanzania, Banyan Global, Banyan headquarters, the Government of Tanzania, project partners and other youth programming stakeholders.

Support the COP to ensuring quality resources for training and capacity development efforts in support of project activities and deliverables and organize, as needed, project/program training, conferences, workshops, and meetings.

Ensure that the program promotes and participates in local networks that support youth development and community engagement

Demonstrate diplomacy and leadership to foster an atmosphere of teamwork, productivity, creativity, fairness, equity, and innovation, and support for diversity.

Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

At least 10-years of experience with demonstrated senior-level leadership (e.g., Project Director, Deputy Director) to programs of similar magnitude and complexity is preferred.

Demonstrated progressive experience working on youth programming, including community and youth engagement, education, entrepreneurship, and psychosocial support.

Demonstrated experience working with senior-level representatives of Ministry of Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability, international organizations, U.S. Government Agencies, other bilateral donors, civil society organizations, and private sector organizations.

Demonstrated ability to organize and effectively and efficiently navigate the rules and regulations of U.S. Government awards.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience with USAID (highly desirable) and other donors (e.g., World Bank, DFID, etc.).

Strong analytical and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web-based research).

Ability to multi-task and keep track of concurrent activities and deadlines.

Citizen of Tanzania.
