Overview
Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches for a broad and lasting impact in six practice areas: youth and workforce development, finance and investment, enterprise development, gender, health, and evaluation and learning. Banyan Global is recruiting an experienced Chief of Party (COP) to lead and manage the anticipated USAID-funded Cross-Sectoral Youth Activity that will create and support an array of interventions, tailored to specific needs of targeted youth, that are youth-owned, youth-led and youth-managed, focused particularly on out of school youth who have had limited opportunities to engage in the formal education sector. The expected results of this program are that youth participants are more productive, engaged, and active members in their communities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated senior-level leadership experience on programs focused on youth skills development, empowerment, and community engagement. The position is based in Tanzania, full-time and contingent on funding.
Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and oversight in the design, implementation, and monitoring for the program, work plans, reports, and budgets.

Design technical strategies and activities at the national, regional, and local levels, including conceptualizing new activities related to emerging trends and initiatives.

Ensure effective and timely implementation of program strategy and supervise staff to carry out activities in the technical portfolio, translating project goals and objectives into implementable strategies and plans.

Oversee the preparation of necessary technical and program-related reports, including presentations, peer-reviewed publications presenting innovation on youth policy and systems, and white papers.

Ensure adherence to US Government, USAID, project, corporate, and Tanzania policies, regulations, and laws governing all technical work including those related to procurement and labour and employment.

Serve as the lead liaison and program representative with USAID/Tanzania, Banyan Global, Banyan headquarters, the Government of Tanzania, project partners and other youth programming stakeholders.

Ensure quality resources for training and capacity development efforts in support of project activities and deliverables.

Oversee project budgeting and ensure transparency and quality control of project financial management.

Demonstrate diplomacy and leadership to foster an atmosphere of teamwork, productivity, creativity, fairness, equity, and innovation, and support for diversity.

Supervise and mentor senior staff, delegating responsibilities as appropriate. Clearly communicate expectations for staff performance.

Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

At least 10-years of experience with demonstrated senior-level leadership (e.g., Chief of Party, Country Director) on programs of similar magnitude and complexity.

Demonstrated experience working on youth programming with knowledge of USAID’s Positive Youth Development framework.

Technical experience leading community and youth engagement, education, entrepreneurship, and psychosocial support activities.

Proven success in designing and overseeing Grants Under Contracts mechanisms.

Demonstrated ability to organize and effectively and efficiently navigate the rules and regulations of U.S. Government awards.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience with USAID (highly desirable) and other donors (e.g., World Bank, DFID, etc.).

Strong analytical and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, web-based research).
