SUMMARY
Arizona State University is seeking an experienced Industry Liaison to oversee the sustainability program for the new USAID-funded Egypt Center of Excellence for Energy (COE) project. The COE project is a partnership between ASU-US and three Egyptian partner universities (EPUs): Ain Shams University, Aswan University, and Mansoura University. The COE’s goal is to improve the capacity of Egypt’s higher education institutions to drive public and private sector innovation, modernization, and competitiveness; strengthen government policy to stimulate economic growth; and contribute solutions to Egypt’s development challenges in the energy sector. The Industry Liaison’s primary responsibility is to interact with Egypt’s Energy Industries, utilities, NGOs and government sector to develop a robust sustainability program that ensures the long-term success of the COE.
Responsibilities

Interact with Egypt’s Energy Industries, utilities, NGOs, and government sector to support COE research, internships, and long-term funding.

Support the center technical advisor and director interacting with the industry, NGOs, and stakeholders

Assist in the development of the technology center to offer technical consulting, testing facilities, workforce training services, workshops, certificate programs, testing, and related areas. The technology center will be the COE platform for developing and marketing fee-bearing courses and certifications to industry and ministries. The technology center can offer the short course, workshops, training, and certificate programs.

Assist in the interactions and development of the COE Stakeholder members.

Draft MOUs and finalize agreements with the industry sector

Assist in the Development of workshops, mentoring, and hands-on assistance in preparing fundraising and sponsored-research proposals and presenting requests to companies and donors.

Support COE in developing/update of Industry Advisory Boards relevant to the faculties

Expand existing professional networks, develop, and implement an industry outreach program and internship program, including, but not limited to, company tours of universities, roundtables with students, and job boards to match company opportunities with student interns and graduates.

Work with the stakeholders to develop research agenda aligned with Egypt’s energy sector needs and identify sources of financing the research agenda

Organize regular workshops, seminars, and think-tank meetings.

Assist existing units in the following services: alumni engagement, scholarship funding, exchange programs, funded research, industrial chairs etc.

Develop and implement a robust program of sustainable and long-term collaborative linkages between U.S. and Egyptian universities.

Present and market COE to a wide variety of external groups and businesses to gather support for research agenda, scholarships, internships, and job placement.

Develop a robust online/manual documentation system for COE projects and maintain integrity of this filing system.

Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

B.Sc./M.Sc. in Technology or related fields (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical areas), MBA or related business degree.

Established connection with Egypt’s energy industry and government agencies, 5 years of experience in energy business development.

M.Sc. or MBA, strong background in the Energy sector and Energy business operations in Egypt.

Demonstrate strong interactions with Egypt’s industrial sector, preferably Energy.

Knowledge of industries particularly the energy and utility sectors; entrepreneurship and business operation strategies.

Knowledge of fundraising.

Skill in planning, analyzing, coordinating activities, and establishing priorities.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to market concepts to a diverse audience in varying functional disciplines.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment subject to quickly changing priorities and potentially conflicting deadlines.

Language Proficiency: Level IV English and fluent Arabic required.
Working Environment:

This position will interact with administrators, faculty, and students working at COE. May travel to various locations within Egypt
